Work could only be done over the weekends which meant a lot of planning and organisation. This project required skills from all walks of engineering, from structural expertise to plumbing. All the old existing iron pipe work had to be cut out piece by piece and then removed before the new pipe work could be fitted. This new pipe work was all connected up with the usual inclusion of heat protective lagging and flow direction stickers. The fact that the building had 7 floors with over 140 rooms, proved without a doubt that our work had to be perfect every step of the way – and it was, as always. We also removed 2 calorifiers and had them refurbished and descaled, after which they were reconnected into the system with new pipe work.
